Landlord Version

Introducing our landlord internet room thermostat, allowing you to control or limit adjustments by tenants in your rental properties. In addition to the features of our standard thermostat, enhanced functions include:

Remote Setup

All our landlord features are configurable remotely, saving you from travelling to the property to make any adjustments.

Specify a minimum and maximum set point

Enter your own minimum and maximum set points, to prevent the user from pushing the set point up to excessive temperatures and overheating the home.

Disable the Menu

Prevent any of the program timers being changed locally by disabling the menu.

Lock the set point

Prevent users from changing the set point by locking it.

Restrict functions

Remove functions from the thermostat, to prevent users from switching the thermostat on permanently.

Variable Boost Function

When enabled, this can be configured to switch the thermostat on for a set time interval, for example 30 minutes, before reverting back to its previous setting.

Installation

Our Room Thermostat has been designed with ease of use in mind from the beginning and this starts with the installation.

Battery Operated, Volt Free Switching

Quite simply this means that our thermostat will work as a replacement for virtually every existing room thermostat. Before buying a thermostat it is very important that you check your existing wiring and check how many wires your new thermostat will require. If you need to run a new cable for your new room thermostat, be sure to factor in this additional cost when comparing thermostats. Our thermostat requires only two wires, meaning it will work with all existing wiring configurations.

Surface mount design

Electrical accessories usually come in two flavours. Flush mounted or surface mounted. Flush mount usually gives a slimmer accessory, as a large part of it is buried in the wall. However this will usually involve sinking a back box into the wall, which can be a very messy job, not to be taken lightly.

Surface Mounted means that the accessory is mounted directly onto the wall, enabling a very quick and easy installation. However these designs tend to be thicker in depth.

Our design team has come up with an extremely compact and clever design, which gives a very easy to install surface mount Thermostat, that is barely deeper than some flush mount designs. To fix, it requires just two 5mm holes to be drilled, and the final depth is just 22mm! We challenge you to find another battery operated Surface Mount Thermostat that can beat that! The sleek design curves at the edges give the illusion that it is even thinner.

System Requirements

In order to make maximum use of our Room thermostat, please ensure that your system meets these requirements.

• Your central heating system currently has a room thermostat (usually found in your hallway or lounge) and that it is a wired unit, rather than a wireless or RF system. If you do not have a thermostat, or it is wireless, then you will need to run a cable from your boiler to where you want your room thermostat located.
• Our room thermostat is compatible with virtually every type of central heating system (Gas, Oil, Combi boiler etc) It is also irrelevant as to who your supplier is (eg British gas, Npower etc).
• Ideally, to work correctly, your system should have independent central heating and hot water controls. If you can switch your central heating on without switching on your hot water then you have independent controls (Virtually all systems). If you do not have this, then it should be a fairly simple job to have your system upgraded to be able to do this.
• An internet connection with a spare network port.

FAQ

I switch my central heating on/off at the boiler controls or a programmer. How does having an internet thermostat allow me to control the heating on/off times?

Your new Internet Room Thermostat is a Thermostat and boiler timer/programmer in one. Your existing boiler programmer is simply switched to the ON mode, and this functionality is now taken care of by the Room Thermostat. This allows complete control of your central heating on/off commands, program timers and the room temperature via the internet on your PC or smartphone.

If the internet connection is lost, will my heating still work?

Yes, all functions can be set and adjusted on the Room Thermostat. Obviously during any internet downtime, you will not be able to control your heating via the website or smartphone.

What network settings do I require to run this system?

The Internet Gateway expects an IP address to be assigned by the router’s DHCP server. This is usually the default setup for most internet routers. In this case, simply plug the Gateway into a spare network port using the supplied cable, and it will automatically connect.

I have a Network Address Translator (NAT) and / or a Firewall, how do I configure these to work with the Internet Room Thermostat?

The Internet Gateway is designed to work with these systems and no configuration is required. Simply plug the device in and it will connect.

Do I need a static IP address from my Internet Service Provider (ISP)?

No you do not. Our internet gateway is designed to work with a dynamically assigned IP address from your ISP (This is how most ISP’s operate) You do not have to pay for a static IP address. However if you have a static IP address for other reasons, the Gateway will function just fine with this setup too.

Do I need to run a network cable to the Thermostat?

No. The Room Thermostat and the Internet Gateway are wireless devices and use a low power radio system to communicate with each other.

I do not have a thermostat or my thermostat is an RF or wireless device?

A cable will need to be run from your boiler to where you want your new Room Thermostat located.

Do you sell a wireless thermostat to control the boiler?

Not currently. A wireless version is planned for late 2013.

What other equipment do I need?

Assuming you already have an internet connection and you have a central heating system that is capable of being controlled by a thermostat, then you do not need any additional equipment to run our Internet Room Thermostat.

Will this work with any central heating system?

There are simply too many variants of heating system on the market to guarantee this, however we predict that it will work with 99% of heating systems. If your heating system has or can be fitted with a room thermostat, and the heating can be switched on independently of the hot water (If fitted), then our system will work with your setup. If you are still unsure, send a message to us with your boiler and thermostat make/model and we will check for you.

How much does it cost? Are there any ongoing fees?

There are no additional or monthly costs with using our system. The price you see is the price you pay. Obviously you will need an internet connection to make the most of the system.

What web browsers or smart phones does it support?

The system is designed to work with all modern web browsers and phones.
