WiFi
Good WiFi is essential to a happy home! This is the case for your own home where you might have a handful of WiFi devices, to a large rental property where you
could easily be looking at 50+ devices.
Routers typically provided by your broadband providers often struggle when you are connecting a large number of devices or when streaming
large high definition videos.
How much should I spend on home networking?
This depends upon the size of the property, but spending £500+ is not unreasonable.
If you consider some cheaper broadband contracts will be less that this, it is not surprising that the routers they provide are not suitable!
What do I need?
Smaller Modern Home, where WiFi reaches everywhere
Consider an improved router, look to spend £150+ on a new router.
Medium House, with one WiFi blackspot
Consider an improved router and a WiFi Signal Booster, or a Mesh Network (see Large House below).
Note, for every WiFi Signal Booster that you add, you half your WiFi speed. Often your WiFi speed is faster than your Internet speed, so you can usually add one these but no more. (If you have full fibre to your home then we would not recommend these).
Large House and/or a large number of WiFi Devices
You will need quality Mesh Network installing in your home.
Consider looking into an external company to install your WiFi e.g. Landlord Broadband
